If you have an Ingenic-based security camera (sold under dozens of names), then you can probably run the Thingino open-source alternative firmware on it and unlock a host of new features!
"Thingino is an open source firmware for IP cameras built on an Ingenic SoC. This independent project has a vision and approach that embraces the open source ideals." (from the Thingino wiki).
It's not a third-party app. It's not an add-on. It's not a module. It's not your camra vendor's proprietary app that forces you to use their system after sending your video to their cloud computers. It's not your father's video camera.
If you have anything you want to monitor with a camera (I use it to monitor my SkyShedPOD AstropotaPOD) and you have a camera that's on the list, then you should use it. RTSP, ONVIF, crontab, motion sensor, alerts, automation, and more, all without any extra software or apps or cloud services.
Sadly, I'll have to write about this later. :-(
